VJMC at the Denver
Cycle World Show
The
Cycle World International Motorcycle Show® presented
by Toyota Trucks invited the VJMC to set up a display at the Denver
show, Dec 19-21, 2003. Roger Burns organized the
effort with the help of Dave Chumley, Jeremy (Jay) Ritz, Ron Burns,
Sharon Burns, Pat Burns and Robert Tipton.

There
was great interest in the VJMC display which featured Jay’s
Bad Dream (a chopped clear-coated, dream frame/super hawk tank,
and scrambler handlebars, Doctor Bob Tipton’s 1990 Honda GB500,
Dave’s totally off the showroom floor 1973 Honda CL350 and
his 1965 Honda CL72, Ron’s black 1964 Dream with a solo seat
and sport pipes, the 1969 Kawasaki Samuari Street Scrambler,
Roger’s show quality 1961 Honda C110 3 speed and his beautifully
restored white 1967 Honda CB77.

Members greeted visitors, talked
with them and answered their questions about the vintage machines.
The number one question
asked was “How
old does your bike have to be to be considered ‘vintage’”?
followed by the traditional answer of "15 years" and handing them
an application.
One prevailing comment was “ That was my first bike” or “I
rode that all over and never had a bit of trouble”. Overall,
the strength and nostalgia of the Japanese motorcycle prevailed.

The
remainder of the 2003-2004 shows will be in New York, Minneapolis,
Atlanta, Ohio, Chicago, Detroit, Daytona, and Washington D.C. Previous
shows for this season include San Francisco, Southern
California, St. Louis, Denver, Dallas, and Seattle. For exact
dates and more
information, access www.motorcycleshows.com or
call (800)331-5706. We, as a club, are trying to be included in
as many of these shows. If
we can break into some of the larger venues, we will start to
see some
progress in club recognition and growth.

The
Colorado- area VJMC membership thanks for the opportunity to be an
exhibitor and recommends Cycle World IMS attendance wherever possible.
