Holly, Michigan Vintage Motorcycle Day

RETURN TO VJMC HOME

Each year, in early May, the City of Holly, Michigan,(50 miles north of Detroit),holds the Vintage Bike Usually, the event is held on a Sunday and the Main street is closed; only motorcycles are allowed on the street and hundreds of bikes park on both sides of the roadway.

This year, blue skies and temperatures in the upper 60's welcomed the riders. Dozens of VJMC members rode their bikes and parked them near the Easy Up that provided shade and headquarters for our group.

Today, May 6,thousands of folks rode in to Holly and soon the town was filled with the exhaust noise and smells of old bikes.Vintage Hondas, Suzukis, Yamahas and Kawasakis could be found parked among Harleys and Triumphs. One fellow even rode a magnificent Vincent Black Shadow into town.

There was plenty of food and even a band played throughout the afternoon to entertain the visitors. Each year the event gets bigger and better. This year it was advertised repeatedlyon the local NBC televison channel, which probably explains the tremendous turnout.

Thanks to the City of Holly, Michigan for opening its arms to vintage bikes each spring!
