Toronto Supershow 2000 Review! |
|
By Rick Seto
Toronto area members who came out to support us this year ( they must have forgotten the pains we went through last year during the blizzard of 99 !) were treated to the best show & display to date. Twenty-three show quality bikes were counted with a good variety from the big four. Especially satisfying was having seven new members bringing out their bikes as well as seeing us add a feature to our booth. This year it was the "Honda 750 SOHC " display featuring years 69 to 78.
The show itself was a huge success with record crowds all three days. A popular feature at the show was the Heritage Bike Foundation . This display showcased the bikes owned by the show promoter Bar Hodgeson. Awards taken within our booth were: first place Vintage Japanese went to Phil Hall & his recently restored "Red Bomber" aka 67 CB450K0...
Second place went to my 66 Yam YM1, third the 67 Superhawk of Chris Gates, forth & fifth were awarded to John Anderson & his 79 CBX & 69 T250 Suzuki. Andre Okazaki captured fourth spot in Asian Street for his beautifully restored 83 Yamaha 350LC.
At this time I would like to thank the members who supplied the bikes & stuck around to help load our display at the end of the show. A special thanks also goes out to the promoter Bar Hodgeson who year after year should be recognized for his generosity for providing our 20x100 booth free of charge!
Next year I would like to have something different within our display & continue with our "theme presentation", so lets try & be creative & do a Triples display, or a Swinging Sixties etc. Props & backdrops or even music would be encouraged.
New members who were showing their bikes for the first time were: Mike Nash 69 750K0, Ken Kerr 72 CB750, Paul McCormick 74 CB750, Ted Sturgess 76 CB750, Mike Davis 78 750SS, Andrew Burdette 75 750SS, Sal Giallo 65 C77, and Bernie Broderick 82 CX500 Turbo. Special thanks to Ken Kerr for taking the pictures in this article!! |
